GCA-4040N

My GCA-4040N can't burn dvds! It's a known fault from a search on the net. I paid roughly US$350 to have this fixed but didn't check it for 4 months after getting the computer back. The service warranty is up after 3 months apparently and HP have no obligation to fix it. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Re: GCA-4040N

AFAIK this drive can only burn "+" media, not "-" by default.
There are several other forums in the internet discussing how to change the firmware to enable the "-" media.

Use "MODEL : DVD+-RW GWA4040N" as search string an read through the pages.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
