HP 4150 CD not working

HP Omnibook 4150 using Windows 2000, with the original HP removable CD drive.
Bios: Phoenix 4.0 rel 6.0
When I try to access a known good CDI get message saying "the disk in drive D is not formatted". The hardware wizard says that controller and drive are working properly. Everything was working fine before.

Hi,

It may be worth posting your question in the Business Customer Discussion Groups Forum where there's a dedicated Omnibook catagory....

Re: HP 4150 CD not working

Thanks for the suggestion - will do.

Someone suggested CDRom drive is kaputt (and as product is now obsolete, replacement pretty expensive, if you can find a supplier)... but I am also having problems with the Floppy drive - and have posted an appropriate message - so I suspect that some driver or BIOS component is malfunctioning. Nothing to support my theory though.
