hp cd-writer 8200 series

Hi all,

I have a cd-writer 8200e and am having problems with the cd accepting the media. I have used this burner before and it worked great but now when i put in a blank or appendable disk, it kicks it out and asks for the media. Any help with this problem would be extremely appreciated.

Hi, Jeremy. Let's start with a quick mount test:
1. Unplug the drive from power and the computer.
2. Replug ONLY THE POWER.
3. Insert a blank cdr.
4. Watch the LED light on the front. If it does anything other than go solid green, you've got a bad drive. (It may bling a few times before it goes solid, that's cool.)

If it passes this test, reinstall your burning software because it's probably corrupt. :)

I am having the same problems. ever since i upgraded hp recordnow to v3.5, i can not burn audio cd-r's. it just keeps rejecting the cd-r and telling me to insert a blank cd-r. i ran the power test - all fine. i de-installed the burn software and re-installed, then again in safe mode, then again with the registry entries deleted - all the same. any ideas?

roger - i tried upgrading to v3.5 of roxio/directcd. now it tells me i have no licenced version of easy cd creator (i have directcd v3.01d). looks like i'm in a catch-22 situation here - i have the software, it does not recognize it, i can't upgrade, so i can't burn audio cd's. help!!

PITIFUL FOOLS, I WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM. SEE THE START BUTTON ON YOUR DESKTOP? CLICK IT AND GO TO WINDOWS UPDATE(MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ONLINE CONNECTION AND DELETE ALL THE SOFTWARE YOU INSTALLED FROM THE HP CDS). AFTER THAT GOTO DRIVERS UPDATE THERE YOU WILL FIND HP CD WRITER DRIVERS DOWNLOAD THEM MY FRIEND. HAHA
