HP CDwriter 7200i Plus

After I format a cd and try to write to it, it says "access denied". Even when I put in a store bought program it reads it as a blank cdr. Is thing failing or what? I have tried all of them software and firmware upgrades. I am using 98Se.

Re: HP CDwriter 7200i Plus

It is clear from the forum posts, usenet posts, personal experience, and conversations with HP authorized service personnel than HP is having some significant problems with their entire line of CD Writer products. My guess is that there is a better than even chance that you have (yet another) defective unit. There also seems to be a fair amount of problems with the Adaptec software that HP OEM's for them too. My guess is that the support people for this product must be ready to quit or they must have some very tough skin.
