HP cdwriter 8250i - Track Write Errors - Please Help!!
i keep getting track write errors while trying to create an audio CD. All it says in the so called "help" section is that this error is usualy accompanied with another error and to see what that error is, but i get no other error.
I just re-installed the software and it still does it. I've tried using different media as well with no success and I even defragged my hard drive.
My sys specs:
AMD Duron 800mhz
Win98se
192mb Ram
IDE primary master: 15gb 7200rpm Hard drive
IDE secondary master: Hp 8250i cdwriter
IDE secondary slave: 52x buslink cdrom

Re: HP cdwriter 8250i - Track Write Errors - Please Help!!
First of all, if you are Recording audio cd?s On The Fly, it?s usual to get error messages like the one you have.
The rec. process it?s very delicated, you need to have a good reader to make audio copies, wich are the more sensitive. The unit has a buffer that keeps the information on hold and the laser it?s burning the info. on the media, but if the cd-rom can?t keep up, and putting the data in the buffer, you will have a coaster.
So, i advise you first to check how the cd-writer it?s detected, then try enabling DMA for the unit in Device manager. Check the Hard Disk Controllers, note tham down.
Try to Rec. mp3 files or wav files, from the HDD don?t use the Cd-rom. The Hard Disk of have capacities, from preventing that bur happends cos. of the tranfer rate of the data.
Use the writer to extract wav and to rec. it.
Use Cd-RW for tests.
Please send feedback.
