Writing with an HP 9100i Plus
I recently purchased an HP 9100i Plus CD-Writer, and am unable to write or re-write cd's in Windows 2000 Professional. I have my computer dual-booting windows 2000 and slackware linux 8.0, and can write and re-write cd's in slackare 100% of the time. In windows, however, it almost always dies at 12-13% of the completion of the burn, no matter what program I use. I have tried nero, easy cd creator 4.02 and 5.0, cdclone, and the new hp record now software. The ones that are nice enough to give me an error message say "invalid field in cdb" or something similar. Does anyone know what this means, or how I can fix it? I have tried re-installing my ide drivers, the programs themselves, and even the physical drive to no aval. The firmware version is also current (1.0c). I can read from cds, cdrs, and cdrws fine, just not right. Once again, any help would be appriciated.

Re: Writing with an HP 9100i Plus
Well, first uninstall all Recording Software, look for any remaining files, left by NERO.
Install only the Record Now.
Then try to rec. from the HDD,data, enable DMA,in device manager, for the cd-writer, of course you must now how it?s installed and configured. I advise you to set the unit as Master at the end of the IDE cable.
Try to go BIOS and change the Pio Mode from Auto to PIO4.
If any error occur please click in advanced and note them.
