HP DVD writer 840b & CDG files

Does anyone know whether the HP DVD Writer 840b is CDG file compatible?

I am burning CDG files with Power CD+G burner. However the files just burn as an audio cd & don't play the karaoke lyrics on my karaoke machine?

Power CD+G help files state it is my drive that is the problem - can anyone shed any light on this?
