Media Detecction in progress error

Media Detecction in progress error

When I drop a DVD into Pavilion 7480 Media Center bay a blue screen hangs with saying "Media Detection in progress error". I then need use Window task manager to close a program calleddisc_gui. I dont have any software to reinstall if that is the solution.
