Yes, I am having the same problem. I got the thing to format some CD-RW's before but now I got some new Memorex CD-RW's and the thing refuses to format. I even took the thing (an external USB CD-writer 8230) and attached it to my new Windows 2000 computer to see if the faster processor, etc. would help. Not at all. This is incredibly frustrating, since without the ability to use CD-RW's, I'm wasting CD-R media like you wouldn't believe, since it's the only way to get data off my music recording workstation... Please help.. Please..
