I know it sounds obvious, but have you d-loaded the new XP drivers fir your machine from the HP site?

hey David,
thanks... i did download the drivers but i didn't download the HP simple back up.
anyway, it worked out now cause i installed all the necessary software, but since i installed it my computer has gotten a lot slower and many programs "don't respond".
i removed "record now" and the problewm was solved.
any suggestions?

Hello...what you need to do is. To remove all cd writer software and make shure that there is no antivirus software running in the background. Start installing the software in this order: Start with record now 3.50b and after that install HP DLA. If it still fails after that, check the device manager and check if the device has a yellow questionmark and has a errorcode like 31, 32, 39 or 41. If it is so, please call your local cd writer support because they have a registry fix to get rid of this problem.

Good luck!
