Im getting the above error message connecting an HP Surestore 1200ex to Adaptec 29160 cards.
all I've read so far indicates a likely problem with the cards only working with LVD/SE devices.
Can anyone confirm if the surestore 1200ex is an HVD or LVD device?
Thanks in advance
David

Re: scsi controler config error: 02
The informnation on the addaptec site indicates that the cards I have will only support Low Voltage Differential (LVD)devices and the error I'm seeing suggest the device is High Voltage Differential. Is this the case or do I have another configuration error somewhere?
Thanks
David

Re: scsi controler config error: 02
Basically, the card detected a configuration error, most likely on the SCSI bus. It is possible that the termination on the SCSI bus or the cable itself might have gotten defective. For test, please try to disconnect all SCSI devices on the card. Boot the system and see if you still get the error.
Most of the times, this error message will appear when connecting an HVD (High Voltage Differential) SCSI device to the Low Voltage Differential (LVD) SCSI card. Ultra160 SCSI cards only support the use of Low Voltage Differential (LVD) and Single-Ended (SE) devices.
CAUTION! Connecting HVD devices to a non-HVD SCSI controller may damage both the device and the SCSI controller.
Determine if your device(s) being attached is a HVD device. Check for any markings on the device, typically near the SCSI connector that may indicate HVD or LVD/SE. However do not trust these marking completely, double check the type of device inside the unit. Although the external case may be marked as LVD, it is still possible the internal device may still be an HVD device.
The manufacuter of the device(s) should be contacted, if reviewing the documentation or visiting the manufacturers web shed light on the interface style the device is using.
Note: When using a HVD (High Voltage Differential) device, a HVD SCSI card must be used.

Re: scsi controler config error: 02
Thanks for this. I'll try to source some cables prior to re-testing. I had difficulty finding VHDCI to HD50 cables hence going for the VHDCI to HD68. I hadn't appreciated there was a difference between the busses.
Regards
David
