Tape Library tools and NT miniport Driver

For using the Tape Library tools for accessing an optical drive on Windows 2000, a miniport driver is needed.

Where can I get this driver?

Re: Tape Library tools and NT miniport Driver

'NT miniport' is a driver built into winNT, Win2000, and WinXP. LTT will allow you to select this driver mode on any of these OS platforms. Other Windows platforms (e.g. win95/98/ME) do not support miniport, and the Adaptec WinASPI driver needs to be installed instead. The LTT installation contains the ASPI installer (with LTT 2.7 SR5, WinASPI 4.70 is included, which supports up to winXP).

On OS platforms with miniport, installing the ASPI driver is optional. However, it is often useful with optical products, since some applications (or the OS) may open the device exclusively, and LTT cannot access them through NT miniport. By selecting the ASPI I/O mode (on the splash screen) you can access devices which are otherwise locked in the miniport driver.

The ASPI support option is a selection on the "Select Components" screen during LTT installation.
The journey IS the reward.
