Trouble burning cd on Compaq EVO D5pM
I installed a HP scsi cd-writer 9600 series in an EVO workstation. I think the cdrom in this machine is a samsung SC-148E.
When i try to burn (using nero burning rom V5.5.7.8) a cd to cd copy at 12X it fails 66% of the time, like the cdrom cant transfer data fast enough for the burner. When i burn something copied to the hd everything goes fine. If i burn cd to cd at 8X it goes a little better but i still see dramatic drops in the buffer.
My question: i was wondering if theres a firmware upgrade out there for this cdrom, and can it be the answer to my problems ? Am i doomed to burn at 4 or 6 X to be sure it wont fail..?
Any ideas and suggestions welcome!!
