Re: can't connect to link to download drivers

Julia - Try using "Chat online with HP".
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact/chat_1.html

I was able to get my drivers that way - still doesn't fix their website, but at least you can get the drivers you need - and save them somewhere so you don't get stuck again.

Re: can't connect to link to download drivers

When the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error comes up, change the ftp:// prefix in the address bar to http:// and the download will start.

Hope this helps.

Re: can't connect to link to download drivers

Barney, you are a genius! I have had this download problem countless times on HP's site and not just from printer drivers either and this is the first time I heard about a fix that actually worked. I have tried modifying the link before but I had not tried changing the ftp to http. As soon as I did it the file was available for download immediately.

Re: can't connect to link to download drivers

thanks Barney, but I don't get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error message when I try to download the driver.
I just get a small box saying

"you have chosen to open
sp45489.exe
which is a: Binary File
from ftp://ftp.hp.com
Would you like to save this file?"

When I select 'Save File', it downloads an empty (0 bytes) file.
Any idea why?

Re: can't connect to link to download drivers

I had no problems downloading it from XP using IE, firefox or safari.
(But the first IE download said "broken link" but worked on a retry.)

Re: can't connect to link to download drivers

I've had problems downloading using both IE and Firefox - have't tried Safari.
I downloaded fine from my girlfriend's laptop, but I keep getting the empty file when I try it from mine. At any rate Dennis, I'm not sure why you're commenting if you can't offer any solutions.
