Dynamic IP for Aruba AP635 & AP615 APs

Hello,

I’m deploying a cluster of Aruba AP635 and AP615 access points, joining them to a new cluster managed by an AP635 acting as the Virtual Controller. For discovery, I’m currently using a local DHCP server on my laptop (Tftpd64). Once the APs obtain an IP address and join the cluster, I manually assign them static IPs.

The customer does not have a DHCP server in their network and is not willing to deploy one. They would like the Virtual Controller itself to provide DHCP addresses specifically for the management interfaces of the APs, not for client devices.

From what I’ve seen, the Virtual Controller DHCP options (local, distributed, centralized scopes) apply only to WLAN client addressing. Is there any supported way for the VC to act as a DHCP server for AP management IPs, or is an external DHCP server strictly required for AP discovery and address assignment?

Thanks in advance.
