How to properly connect HP 1820 switches for optimal performance?

Hello, colleagues,

I have three switches in my network:

  • SW1: HP 1820-48G Switch (J9981A)
  • SW2: HP 1820-48G Switch (J9981A)
  • SW3: HPE OfficeConnect 1820-24G Switch (J9980A)

All devices are in the same VLAN (192.168.0.0/24), with the gateway and DNS server set to 192.168.0.1.

Currently, the switches are connected as follows:

  • SW1 Trunk (Port 50, 51)SW2 Trunk (Port 50, 51)
  • SW2 Trunk (Port 46, 48)SW3 Trunk (Port 24, 25)

Questions:

  1. Is this connection scheme optimal for the network?
  2. What additional configurations should I apply to:
    • Prevent loops.
    • Ensure high performance.
    • Simplify network management.

Here’s what I have configured so far:

  • RSTP (802.1w) is enabled on all switches.
  • BPDU Protection is enabled on ports.

I’m not using multiple VLANs or multicast traffic at this time.

Thank you for your assistance!
