I have a question regarding SFP links. I aquired pre-terminated fiber cables from Lan-Shack, 50/125 OM4 MMF LC to LC to be exact, 120m long. I've been using J4858C Gbics for other fiber stretches but those were OM3 MMF. I was under the impresseion that OM3 and OM4 are largely similar (both multimode and laser-optimized). Unfortunately I get no connection using these Gbics and the OM4 cable. Tried an OM3 and they work.
Question: Before I assume the cable is damaged, is there any reason the J4895 would not work with OM4 MMF? If so, what other Gbics could/should I use?
