STP BPDU Guard does not work with TP-Link Hub
Hello community,
I have an HPE Aruba switch 2930M and I want to enable BPDU protection in order to avoid incidents if someone connects to my switch another switch or hub.
I have enable the BPDU protection and loop-protect command per-interface.
If I make a connectio with another switch, the port configured with the bpdu-protection command is disabled for 2-3 seconds and, then, enabled again.
But, when I connect with a single UTP cable a TP-Link hub to the switch, which I suppose that uses BPDU packets, then the port is still enabled. Based on what I have read, the interface should have been disabled. Instead, it seems deisabled for about 2 seconds and, then, enabled again.
Actually, I receive the following log:
I 05/16/24 12:19:33 00076 ports: ST1-CMDR: port 1/18 is now on-line
I 05/16/24 12:19:30 00435 ports: ST1-CMDR: port 1/18 is Blocked by STP
I 05/16/24 12:19:29 00077 ports: ST1-CMDR: port 1/18 is now off-line
The configuration implemented to the interface is the following:
interface X/YZ
tagged vlan AAA
untagged vlan BBB
spanning-tree bpdu-protection
loop-protect
exit
We have not configured bpdu-protection-timeout.
If anybody has anything to contribute, I would be glad.
Thanks,
SteMa
