Monitoring controlled access points

Hi,

We have MSM760 controller with MSM310 and MSM410 APs, all in controlled mode.

PCM+ with PMM found the controller but no access points.

Any special settings needed for the access point to show up in PCM+?

So far I enabled these: SNMP, SOAP, SSH with admin, management console.

Does the management software need to communicate directly to access points? If yes, what protocol is needed?

Or the controller gives info about the APs under its authority?

Thanks!

Re: Monitoring controlled access points

In another thread I suggested to contact with HP support. It was my fault.

The support staff knows nothing about how this works. They can only read and copy-paste the manuals. I got L1 and L2 support too, without any result.

They kept asking about discovery settings. I can tell you it has nothing to do about discovery at all. Controlled access points cannot be discovered! The controller reports about them to PCM/MM. All you have to do is to set the management console ip address (this is usually the same as PCM address) on the controller if your sw version is above 5.4, as stated in MM manual. Below 5.4 you need to enable SOAP, and SNMP. But SNMP is needed for the controller management itself anyway.

My problem was caused by a faulty controller, exchanged it with a new one and everything is working now.

Needless to say I am utterly disappointed with HP.
