PCM4+ local client can't find server

I have installed PCM4+ for evaluation on a W7-64 laptop.  It worked fine when first installed on a local network (192.168.1.0) - but when I took it to to a live site, the client couldn't find the server - even though it was on the same machine.  I altered the server access.txt file to allow access from the relevant subnet - but the client could still not locate the server.  I will be taking the server (laptop) to a number of sites - each with a different sub-net.  After a successful evaluation I look to install PCM on a static server.  But, in the meantime,  how do I move forward on this?

On returning to base, the client was again able to access the server and found that the server's discovery process had been operating sucesfully on site - during the period when the client couldn't see the server. Can anyone help? Should I try the local host address?
