I installed PCM+ v4 (60 day trail) downloaded from the HP site. After installation, I cannot get the HP PCM Discovery or HP PCM client to work. I have included a document detailing what I am experiencing.
The PCM installation and getting started guide does not provide me with any pre-requisite software for PCM4+. Am I missing something?
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Robert

Re: PCM4+ not working
When I try to view the attached document it wants to open as "PCM 4+ Issues.zip", and I can't see anything but a bunch of XML files within the zip. Maybe you could attach a .pdf or something ...?

Re: PCM4+ not working
Server 2008 R2 64bit, 4 GB RAM, I upgraded my PCM+ v3 to v4 a few weeks ago, and it was running fine, but all of a sudden the other day I had a very similar problem, completely unable to find the PCM server (client is running on that same server). Tried all the interface IPs, loopback addr., etc. After much troubleshooting, restarting, etc. I decided a month's worth of data wasn't so bad to lose, So I uninstalled PCM+ v4 completely, restarted, and installed it again, confident that whatever had gotten horked would work again, but it did not, SAME issue. HP PCM Server Discovery finds no servers, and manually putting the server IPs into the client doesn't work. Install log shows no errors like you had. I don't have blocks of uninterrupted time to sit on the phone with HP support, but I guess that's what it comes down to.
Has anyone here put PCM+ on an XP VM (Virtualbox, etc.)??

Re: PCM4+ not working
EDIT: I decided to remove my message because after some discussions internally we've determined the startup issue in my local lab setup might well be an isolated case, at least we don't know if it been confirmed elsewhere yet. Rest assured that we are investigating this further, and would recommend opening a support case if you experience any PCM issues like this or otherwise.

SolutionThis issue was resolved with the help of HP Support. Basically it has to do with the service, Application Experience. When this service is disabled, the install fails. After changing the Application Experience service to Manual, PCM+ v4 install succeeds. This happens only on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, not on a non-SP1 OS.
Do the following:
1. Run Server Manager and select Configuration, Services
2. Locate Application Experience in the list of services and double click on it.
3. Change the start-up type to Manual
4. Install PCM+ v4

Robert
