Dos Bootworks asking for a password in the file share

I'm trying to create a quick image, but when it reboots using PXE into DOS Bootworks, it finds the PXE server and file share name ok, however it's stating 'invalid password' and is asking for a password. I enter the domain password which I use for logging onto both client and server machines, also the same password used in the PXE boot config files but it doesn't accept it. It the shows 'Bad command or file name' A:\>
The two machines are connected locally and can browse through to each others shared drive. I have also added the client and servers name / IP address into the LMhost lookup in RDP.
Can anyone tell me where I can reset the password for this file share or find out what DOS is using to access the share? I thought it would use the password from the Boot Disk Creator (PXE Managed PC) setup but no.

Hi what OS is your shares on? And does the username&password the proper rights? check folder share and ntfs rights assigned. Should be Full-share and modify-ntfs.

Re: Dos Bootworks asking for a password in the file share

Hi Mattlbest

The user name and password which access a share are registered into the PXE image.
This file is in the following folders and *** of ***.pwl is a user name.(For example, when a user name is Administrator, it becomes a file called Administ.pwl.)

RDP 2.1
\PXE\Images\x86pc\undi\managed\managed.1

RDP 2.2
\PXE\Images\MenuOption129\X86PC\MenuOption129.1

Probably you need edit of a PXE image.

Additional information

The user name is defined as system.ini of the Net folder of a PXE image.

Re: Dos Bootworks asking for a password in the file share

Thanks for your replies.
I'm running RDP 2.10 with hotfix on WIndows 2003 server, using DOS from Windows 98 cd. The share has full rights for everyone and security has full permissions for everyone. There are no restrictions on the shares and folders what so ever. I can browse from the client PC and create a text folder on the server.

I have viewed the 'managed.1' file in the PXE image folder but cannot see the password for the share, it only shows A:\bwlogin 'Administ' but no password. I always use the Administrator account with full admin rights to log onto everything.
I have deleted all the *.pwl password files and recreated the boot disk files but still doesn't work. I don't know why it's stating that the password is invalid and to enter a password for the share during DOS bootworks bootup. I have also reinstalled RDP but still no luck.

I forgot to mention:
How would you edit a PXE image?

I forgot to mention:
How would you edit a PXE image? I assumed it was notepad and opened it up in this but half of it was not readable.

Re: Dos Bootworks asking for a password in the file share

Does it have anything to do with the network card driver used by Windows 98?
The network card I'm using is Intel Pro/100 VE on a Dell Optiplex desktop.
I tried using a diskette to boot into boot works but it had problems trying to load the driver.

You can use winimage to edit any floppy image files.

It defaults to .img when using files so watch out for that.
