HP-RDP & Altiris client licenses

Hi All,

I'm just wondering if it's possible to use HP-RDP with Altiris client licenses with the intention of imaging/deploying to desktops?

I have a client who would like to leverage the fact that RDP is essentially Altiris DS and use it to also deploy images to desktops.

I currently have a RDP server with 4 server licenses (I have 4 blades already). I have pushed out the Remote Agent to a target desktop and RDP/DS (whatever you want to call it) picks it up correctly.

Now whenever I launch RDP/DS it gives an error about exceeding my license count, understandably: "Your product is licensed for 4 nodes and contains 5 computers"

I have obtained a 10 node, 30 day trial eval license from Altiris. Adding the license using the licensing tool is not a problem however when I go to help -> about, it doesn't pick up the new 10 eval nodes.

Under Licensed nodes:

Server: 4 of 4
Client: 1 of 0

Under Evaluation nodes:

Client: 0

Details of the license file are attached.

Is the process I'm using correct? Ie getting server licenses from HP and getting client licenses from Altiris???

Any help would be much appreciated.

TIA,
KFM

Re: HP-RDP & Altiris client licenses

OK just found the answer.

It appears that you can ONLY have EITHER the (Altiris) eval license registered or the full RDP license installed AT ANY ONE TIME.

IE if you have the RDP license installed you CANNOT install any eval licenses unless you replace the existing RDP licenses. Conversely if you have an eval licenses installed you CANNOT install full RDP licenses unless you replace the existing eval licenses.

I have successfully tested having BOTH full RDP licenses and full Altiris licenses - it works fine.
