PSP 7.40 Upgrade fails with previous 5.30 agents installed

Proliant 380 G2 with PSP agents v5.30. Local copy of PSP v7.40 gets error msg "Connection can not be made to "servername"", Details : "Access to target computer denied....".

Management agents (cp005413)installed manually gets error "Not supported on this machine.. Reboot to continue..". After reboot the 5.30 agents remain. If you go to Cntrl Panel to Add/Remove agents. They seem to uninstall. If you then run 5413 again it seems to work, but the agents report version 5.30. Can't seem to get rid of the 5.30. Is there a forced removal proceedure of the previous PSP v5.30? Maybe then a clean 7.40 install will work?

Need help fast.

Re: PSP 7.40 Upgrade fails with previous 5.30 agents installed

Hi,

We've had the same sort of problem, we upgraded all our servers from 5.40 to 7.40 in the ctrl panel the old cpq mgmt agents util is still there. Although there is now no option to remove them from add/remove programs. This is causing the HP NIC agents not to start and the foundation agents. Which of course stops the server reporting to HP SIM

Help someone!!

Hi Brian,
Did you manage to get around the error and install HP Management agents on your server? I have searched the forum and there is no solution to the above error.

This has never been answered. What/where are the registery entries? Perhaps it's a flaky permissions issue within the registry.

That is why I'm asking for a removal tool. Can an HP engineer be engaged. I have been waiting for a while on this.

Server runs fine. It just does not report to the Insight console. /br
