PXE boot fails
I'm newbie and have never configured RDP before. Now I've been able to do the following:
Installed RDP files (2.10) and Windows 2003 install files and so forth to one server which also hosts the SQL 2000 DB for this purpose.
Installed the PXE server to another server, which is the same server as the DHCP server.
I've done the post-install configurations stated in the install guide, but I've set the "Initial Deployment Job Timeout" to "Wait Indefinitely" so I could follow what happens. I've also change the config to use TFTP instead of MTFTP.
Now I've managed to get the client-server which I want to make an scripted install on to, to boot on PXE, get an IP from the DHCP server. But all that happens is that the client starts the TFTP (did the same with MTFTP until I changed that setting) and then it just hangs. Sometimes it wont get that far as the TFTP, instead it says " PXE-E78: Could not locate boot server."
Could anyone give me advice on what might have gone wrong?
Thanks in advance
Johan

Re: PXE boot fails
Did you check this article:
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/rdp/knowledgebase/00000138.html
It looks like the PXE server information is not fed into DHCP server properly.
Hope this helps,
Gopi

Re: PXE boot fails
I'm having the same issue on a few proliant dl360 g4's. initializing tcp/ip via DHCP is where it's stuck at, every time. This didn't seem to happen on the machines we had with a slightly older BIOS level.
Have you been able to resolve the issue?

Re: PXE boot fails
Hello,
About the PXE CLIENT property in DHCP, yes the entry is there, no prob! As I can see the boot menu loaded from the PXE server something else is not working.
About resolving the issue. No I have not been able to resolve it. Yet. Actually I have not had the time to do it either. However, tomorrow I'm going to have a look at the bios. As I've heard about a similar problem with HP blade servers and that problem got resolved by updating the bios.
Now the problem I've got with the bios is that I'm not too sure about the G4's having a floppy drive, as I don't have any OS on the servers yet to update the bios.
