RDP won't start after changing RDP server IP address

We have a server that a collegue of mine recently built the latest verion of RDP on.

All was working fine until the RDP server IP address was changed. Since then, RDP can no loger start, since the RDP software is tied to the IP address of the RDP server.

Can somebody please advise how RDP can be reconfigured to recognise the new IP adress of the server, so that RDP will start. I want to avoid having to reinstall the RDP software.

Cheers,

David

Re: RDP won't start after changing RDP server IP address

Do you have any errors? Did you check the event viewer? Is the database local, or on a different server? What version of RDP are you running?

If you're using RDP 2.10 or earlier, look at the following document:
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/rdp/knowledgebase/00000137.html

The process is still being defined for RDP 2.20.

Re: RDP won't start after changing RDP server IP address

Thanks for your reply Ken.

I believe we are using the latest version of RDP so it must be V2.2.

I'm not the actual person who did the RDP build so I don't have the answers to all your questions - I'm simply the messenger.

Anyway, I'm not sure if the procedure for V2.1 will be the same for V2.2, but I'm getting one of my collegues to try it in the next couple of days, and hopefully it will work. It doesn't look like a simple task though does it.

Re: RDP won't start after changing RDP server IP address

The process for 2.1 won't work for 2.2. There is a major u[grade to the underlying Altiris deployment engine.

Try just reinstalling over the existing install, then rebuild the PXE diskette image.

Re: RDP won't start after changing RDP server IP address

Thanks Ken.

I didn't realise V2.2 was so different from V2.1.

We will reinstall V2.2 to resolve the issue.

Re: RDP won't start after changing RDP server IP address

you need to
1.Recreate a new boot disk (or edit configuration and enter new IP address)

2.Change Deployment server IP address (Programs├п  Altris├п  PXE Services├п  PXE Configuration Utility├п  DS ├п  Deployment Server IP address )

3.Change old IP address with new one on these files;
C:\Program Files\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server\PXE
RPC.ini
PXEManager.ini
pxe.ini
C:\Program Files\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server
default.cfg
aclient.inp

4. Change the IP address of server

5.Reboot the Deployment server

I've tested ,seems to be working :))

Re: RDP won't start after changing RDP server IP address

Hi,

Thanks for the info on what to do to change the IP address. I'll keep this procedure in mind for next time, as this time we simply reinstalled RDP V2.2 which solved our problem.

Cheers,

David
