Silent install of PSP's using Smartstart 8.15b and Server 2008
I was going through the process of updating our automated buids to use the PSP's provided with Smartstart 8.15b along with creating a new deployment for Server 2008 and I ran into an issue.
Previously I was using the PSP's that came with SS8.00 and I'd install the PSP's on Server 2003 by running "hpsum /use_latest /allow_non_bundle_components /silent". When I used 8.15 on 2008, hpsum exits with a return code of 3, which means that there are no updates required. If I run it manually, it detects that there are in fact updates it needs. Also, if I run it with
"hpsum /use_latest /allow_non_bundle_components /express_install", it will in fact install the needed updates, but show the progress instead of being silent.
Is there a known issue with the version of hpsum that's included in the latest smartstart CD that's preventing it from installing silently?
