W2K3 Server: Restart (Power Control) task never posts coompletion

RDP 1.40 & DS 5.6: When a Job completes a "Run Script" task (such as a W2K3 Server security patch), followed by a "Power Control" task (Restart w/ Force), the script runs successfully, the patch gets applied, the server reboots...all successfully. However, the "Restart" task never posts a completion status. It hangs on "Restarting Computer."

What do I need to do, to get completion posted? SOmeone mentioned disabling the W2K3 Local Policy for "Activate Shutdown Event Tracker System."

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi Larry,

This is a bug in the latest version of the Altiris deployment server that has been posted on the Altiris forum as well. So far there hasn't been a solution. You will also see this happen on W2K or NT4 machines although the frequency varies. I recently pushed the RPC patch, and only had two systems show this symptom out of just over 100. Kind of a pain isn't it?

Thank You, Jeff, for your insight. I searched the Altiris site, high-and-low, with no finding of your description...but, then again, I did not usee the support forum over there, either.

I appreciate having someone knowledgeable with the product, supply such a fast reply with accuracy...something both vendors seem to be missing out on. Thanks again!

Hi Larry,

If you want to keep an eye on the thread on the Altiris forum here is a link. I'll try and update this thread if I remember, and if there is a resolution.

Jeff
