What for server migration pack (SMP) uses iSCSI?

Hello!
SMP requires to install iscsi. Why?
Is it uses iscsi protocol for migration server from source to destination?
Or smp uses iscsi for migration to EVA with iscsi option?

I'm sure its source to destination.
As its needed for a P2P migration with no SAN connectivity.

SMP uses iSCSI to enable block mode transfers instead of file-based transfers. This is a more efficient method of migration.

Do your mean that iscsi used between source-application and application-destination. Is it right? But i do not install iscsi to source and i do not see any message about iscsi on destination (on HP agent). Next time i try to run network monitor like whireshark or microsoft nm.
