1705 - Locked SCSI bus detected
I've installed a new HP SureStore DAT 24i drive in a PL ML330 on the Cpq W/U2 SCSI controller that comes with the server.
When I boot the server, I get this error message: "1705 - Locked SCSI bus detected, system halted"
I know from reading other messages in this forum (Replies from Ron G) that it can either be cabling, termination or faulty device.
1. Of course I started using the SCSI cable that came with the server, which has a termination block. Then I tried using a SCSI cable without termination.
2. I tried terminating the DAT device and not terminating it, even though it says in the HP manual that termination should be on at all times. I tried this trick using both of the two different SCSI cables.
3. The DAT device is not faulty - I installed it in another (non-Compaq) server and it worked fine.
I'm using an HP supplied 50-to-68 pin SCSI adapter between the w/u SCSI connector and the DAT device, but I don't see that as a problem - It should work fine according to HP.
What else can be the problem?

Re: 1705 - Locked SCSI bus detected
I have got the same problem. Someone suggested that you could not put a DAT drive on this controller, But I can't see that being right. It would be a big restriction on a bottom end server.
