2 Degraded Systems on DL380 Gen9

Hi All,

We have a few older DL380 Gen9 servers in the lab where iLO is showing a degraded status for "Smart Storage Battery Status" and "Storage" status.

This is what's shown for the Smart Storage Battery:

 OK    727258-B21     750450-001    <serial>   96 Watts    1.1

Storage just shows:

Cache Module Status         Degraded

Suggestions on how to resolve are appreciated. Thanks!

Hello there, it means that the batteries reached the end of life and needs to be replaced.

Just look for the spare part number: 878643-001 and get as many as needed.

Re: 2 Degraded Systems on DL380 Gen9

The Smart storage battery has failed. So there will be no power source for the array controller to keep the data in its cache memory in case of power failure. Hence the Storage is showing as "Degraded".
There will be no effect on the server functions and data. Though if your server is serving as high data read/ write purposes (Eg: log server) it's better to fix the issue ASAP.

As per your details, you have to order the part using "750450-001" as the part number.

Please refer to the below link for the procedure to follow for Installing/ replacing the Smart Storage Battery.

@feigenL @chathuraw

Thanks for the replies.

So I should order the part 750450-001 for each server? What about 727258-B21? Do I need to order that as well?

Re: 2 Degraded Systems on DL380 Gen9

Hello there, when looking for replacement parts, we need to use the "spare part number" for any of the devices to be replaced. In your case, the battery's spare part number is 750450-001.

When looking for that part numer in HPE's partsurfer portal, it points to the part number 878643-001.

And that's it. Just look and buy  for that specific part number(878643-001).

Hope this helps.

Thanks a bunch Luis. We will proceed to order part 878643-001 then and hopefully it will resolve the degradation issues for us.
