600GB SAS hard drives for HP ProLiant DL (300-series)

Hello everyone,

This is not a true technical question, just about storage for ProLiant servers in general.

We have an HP ProLiant DL380 G7 (605876-005) which has the Smart Array 410i with 512MB FBWC.

Back in November 2010 we ordered a few HP 600GB 6G SAS 10K rpm Hot-Plug SFF Dual Port Enterprise Hard Drives (581286-B21), but they're still on backorder after some months and we're still waiting for them.

Just wondering if anyone here has ever ordered those particular drives and received theirs? Just wondering how they perform on your ML/DL 300-series and whichever Smart Array card(s) you're connecting those drives to.

It seems this is a new part that has been introuduced, I can see this part has been added to specs of the Proliant servers around the month of Nov-Dec 2010.
This could be the reason its not available quickly...
You may want to check with nearest resellers to check availablility or check with sales team for your order.

I have ordered these disks (581286-B21) in Nov 2010 and received in Dec 2010.

Below is the data from discs:
HP Model#: EG0600FBDSR
HP Firmware: HPD1
HP Spare#: 581311-001
Toshiba model#: MBF2600RC

It is true that these discs were introduced in Nov 2010 and may not be immediately available in all region.
