Accelerator Battery Charge Low

I am getting a error that my batteries are low on my 3200 Array controller. Can these be recharged or do they have to be replaced?

I have a defective card with batteries on it, could I just swap that part of the card with the dead ones if i have to?

any help would be appreciated.

Re: Accelerator Battery Charge Low

John:

The batteries should always be "charging" as they consistantly have power being supplied to them while the server is running.

If your batteries are complaining about a low charge, then it might be necessary to replace them. If your spare card is a 3200, you can try the battary module, but there is no guarantee that the module will hold a sufficient charge especially if the card is a few years old or more.

Re: Accelerator Battery Charge Low

Hi John,

The spare part for your controller accelerator which includes the battery is 340915-001.

The batteries on the controllers only last for so long, it is possible that it has simply worn out.

If the controller firmware is up to date and you have reseated the module and you still get a warning that the charge is low, there is no alternative but to replace it.

The only reason why you should get that message if the battery is not failed is if you had the server powered down for a long time as from what the manual says, it takes 36 hours for the batteries to charge, if after 36 hours they have not charged they should be replaced.

This cdrom should update your 3200 to the latest version of the firmware available.

Re: Accelerator Battery Charge Low

This controller wasn't just installed in the server was it? This message would be normal if you either just installed it in a server or the server was down for maintenance. It could be that the batteries just need to charge.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: Accelerator Battery Charge Low

Aha! Yes the server has been in storage for some time. i am rebuilding and upgrading it now. The card has been recently purchased on EBAY so there is no telling how long it has been out of the computer. I have had the computer on foe just under 24 hours now, I will continue to run it until the card has passed the 36 hour mark and see what happens...Thanks for all the responses, help and info! : )

Re: Accelerator Battery Charge Low

after three days....no good. the batteries just would hold a charge. So I put the battery section from another card I had that was bad, and "voila" it is now error free. Thanks for all the replies.
