add HDD to system
Hi we have a DL 580 with 4 HDD and an extern HDD array which as 2 HDD & 10 empty slots. I want to add a couple of HDD to the array. I am very new to these servers and have never configured RAID or mirroring.
How can I check the existing configuaration
How can I add HDD to the existing array.
Can I do it without disturbing the current config.
Thanks in advance.

Re: add HDD to system
Hi ,
you can check your existing RAID configuration through ACU ( use SmartStart CD, or if ACU is installed in the system, use it through it, or press the appopriate function button at the time of booting). you can expand your exisiting RAID volume by adding extra disks, and then configuring expansion through ACU, but better have a backup of the data on exsisting RAID volume.

Re: add HDD to system
Here is attachment and link for more info, you need to read and understand process how to expand, extend and migrate at same time ( migrate if you move over RAID 5). Step by Step will be described for you from used guide. You might get Different Interface in ACU, however fundamentals are same. http://wwss1pro.compaq.com/support/reference_library/viewdocument.asp?countrycode=1000&prodid=117&source=239449-004.xml&dt=264&docid=14346
Recommended to have latest driver, firmware for array controller and ACU utility
