Add HP 822608-B21 cage to existing Array B140i controller without losing Array data?

I have a ML30 Gen 9 server Running Windows 2016 Server.  It has an Array configured and working fine but there was never a hot swap drive cage in the server.  I now want to add the 822608-B21 cage to the server and re-install the existing drives into the hot swap cage.  If I do that and keep the drives in the same order as they currently are, will the controller recognize the existing array and work as it did, keeping all the data, without having to rebuild the array?

Hi,

As per this articleThe hot-plug drive cage only supports hot-plug drives. Non-hot-plug drives installed in a hot-plug drive cage will fail.

NOTE: It’s important to keep data backup before performing this activity.
Data integrity is customer responsibility. HPE recommends having data backup frequently and before performing any activity so that it can be restored during disaster recovery.

Thank You!

Hello,

The article shared in the last comment holds true for this.

The hot-plug drive cage allows accessing storage drives from the server front bezel. The hot-plug drive cage only supports hot-plug drives. Non-hot-plug drives installed in a hot-plug drive cage will fail.

Thanks,
TAM
