Add new 2 hard drive to RAID 6 without losing data

Dear all,

Infomation server:

Name: HPE DL380 G10 SFF

Harddisk: 4 disk SSD 900GB (RAID 6)

CardRAID: Smart Array P816i-a.

Ploblem: Currently my server has Smart Array RAID 6 (4 disks). I am looking to add 2 hard drives to the current RAID 6,  if possible, will there be data loss?

Everyone help me with!!

Hello,

Before performing any changes to the existing array setup, ensure that there is valid backup in the eventuality of a failure.

Additional drives can be added to the array. It is a two step process. Once the hard drives have been installed in the server, the array has to be expanded to include the hard drives. Next is to extend a logical drive with the added capacity.

For the procedure, you may refer to section "6.15.1 Managing Data Drives" on page 32 of the "HPE Smart Storage Administrator GUI User Guide" or section "7.3.24 Expanding an Array" on page 29 of the HPE Smart Storage Administrator CLI User Guide.

Once the array has successfully expanded to include the hard drives, then extend the logical drive with required capacity.
