Adding 2nd Processor to Proliant 800
Hi.
Sorry but english is not my native language.
I want to know which hardware I need to add a second processor to my proliant server.
Only the processor?
A 450 Mhz Pentium II slot type 1 (or 2)?
I saw something about "Processor 2 Power Module Socket" in the manuals. What's that and how can I obtain it if i need it?
Hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Adding 2nd Processor to Proliant 800
Hello Tony,
you have two options for CPU upgrade as belows:
1.6/450 Pentium II Processor Option Kit
product no. is 313618-B21(include one Pentium II 450 Mhz CPU and one Processor Power Module
2.buy the two parts separately:
Pentium II 450 Mhz CPU (179780-001)
Processor Power Module (179780-001)
Definitely, you need a Processor Power Module
(PPM) for multi-processor system.

Re: Adding 2nd Processor to Proliant 800
Any PII450 will prbably work, even if same revisions are recommended.
The VRM (Voltage Regulator Modules) can sometimes be found elsewhere.
Make sure they are rated for the PII 450,
most VRMs are for PPro and may not need the power requirements of the PII?
http://partsurfer.hp.com lists
327660-001 and 329267-001
You may be lucky looking directly at VXI or delta?
These Companies provide the VRM modules for
IBM, Compaq, hp and many others.
