Adding a second processor

I've added the second PII 450 MHZ processor and I receive a 178 Processor not properly configured after the second processor is detected.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Adding a second processor

178 - Processor Configuration Invalid . Processor type or step does not match configuration memory . Run the System Configuration Utility and correct .

Re: Adding a second processor

You MUST run SCU (F10 at boot) to get the 2nd processor configured.

After that you have to upgrade the kernel for OS. On W2K is very simple, just change the CPU controller driver to MPS multiprocessor.

On NT you have to run NTSSD from SmartStart CD and click un Upgrade for CPU and have ready the extracted files of last Service Pack installed. It is not a "snap" process, I suggest you to ask an experienced local representative to do this for you (and prepare a disaster recovery and BACKUP everything first).
