Applying computer Settings - Windows 2003 Proliant Server, PSP 7.50A

I have a problem with my fresh built DL380 G2, running Windows 2003 SP1 with all the latest firmware upgrades.

All was fine until I applied the the latest Proliant Support Pak, version 7.50A. Now when I boot my server, it sits at the "Applying Computer Settings" screen for an hour at a time.

Anyone any ideas what has changed for the worse?!!?!?

Many thanks,

Mark

1)Boot up the server in the safe mode without network.
2)Boot up without network connection to local system.

Thanks for looking at my problem and replying. But do you know why and what went wrong as this problem only occured after applying PSP 7.50A? - Has 7.05A got a bug in it?

I think there is a problem with the Foundation Agents.

Re: Applying computer Settings - Windows 2003 Proliant Server, PSP 7.50A

We have had a similar problem PSP 7.50. When applying the pack to a DL580 G3 the system froze with the only out being a hard reset. Then on each subsequent boot attempt the system froze at the Windows Server 2003 splash screen.

We managed to trace the cause down to the driver for the 64bit/133MHz Ultra320 dual channel SCSI controller (ver 1.21.8.0). We've had simlar problems on other Proliants with this version of the driver.

Individually installing all other drivers from the support pack works around the problem but leads to another issue - Attempting to install the latest online ROM flash for the Smart Array (2.62) returns an error about a missing setup DLL. I know from past experience that installing the complete PSP 7.50 fixes this but we can't because of the problematic SCSI driver - Catch 22.

Re: Applying computer Settings - Windows 2003 Proliant Server, PSP 7.50A

Thanks for your reply Rory.

After sererval hours of re-builds, it appears that it was the Radia Client Install software that was to blame, and not (at the moment!) the PSP 7.50A

The service was hanging (failing to start) and when I booted it to safe mode and Disabled the service the server worked as normal.
