ARCSERVE won`t backup nw5.1 server

We have an internal DLT 4000 Drive installed . We use Arcserve 6.6 & SP4 , Netware 5.1 SP2a.

Arcserve loads fine ,no errors. When we start a backup session on the server , the datarate drops immediatly( High server utilization 63% constantly) to almost 0 and then stops with an E1145 error( Media write error).

All the tests within Arcserve work fine(The one`s for the tapeserver) . The tapes are brand new out of the box

Please help me ,i have to install 6 of these servers.

What SCSI device drivers/version are you loading ?
What type of tapes are you using ?
What part number is on the drive ?
What firmware revision is the drive ?

Firm ware of the drive is D881 I think and I use the driver from the Compaq SMartstart ad version 4.90 (it includes be novel driver library version 6.10)

Not much help , what about the tapes ? ....... E1145 indicates bad media , try changing to a different brand of tapes .

I have excactly the same problem. It has nothing to do with the SP Version of Arcserve an Netware, so I hope Compaq will find a quick solution.

Are you guys using the CANWPABD driver? I have the same config and I'm getting approx 300 Meg per minute backups. Are you using the USEABOVE16 and the CLEAR switches on the load line of CANWPABD?
