ASR detected by ROM
My server keeps rebooting itself multiple times throughout the day. This is the error I recieve in the Compaq error log.
Sample:
Record Number (12)
Corrective Action Taken . . . No
Record Type . . . . . . . NMI - Automatic Server Recovery timer Expiration
Error Date . . . . . . . 12/27/2000
Error Hour . . . . . . . 4
Error Information . . . . . Reserved
Record Number (13)
Corrective Action Taken . . . No
Record Type . . . . . . . ASR detected by ROM
Error Date . . . . . . . 12/27/2000
Error Hour . . . . . . . 4
Error Information . . . . . Reserved
Any idea what causes, or how to fix this problem?
Paul

Re: ASR detected by ROM
An Automatic Server Recovery (ASR) error or event can be either hardware or software. It is generally software related. Basically a CMOS timer sends a message to the server, after x amount of time and no response, it presumes the server is hung and forces a reboot. You can modify or disable this function in the System Configuration Utility, but that will not tell you what the real problem is. Check your software, make sure it is fully patched and your using the latest drivers.
