Backup Problem with SCO Unix
process is initialized, after 1 minute or so, an error message pops up saying that "the backup has failed, check if the dat tape is write protected and try again". I have replaced the DAT devices at both of them, but the problem is still there.
Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

Re: Backup Problem with SCO Unix
the backup util is DRIVER D 160. The DAT devices are 12/24GB internal.

Re: Backup Problem with SCO Unix
Can you post us the details of 'hwconfig -h | grep tape'. Taking note of the 'ht' field, do a 'hwconfig -h type=
It might also be helpful if you give us the output of 'hwconfig -h | grep Stp'.
Have these tape drives ever worked in the past?

Re: Backup Problem with SCO Unix
pls ensure your fw = L111 if not upgrade with LTT diag sw -> www.hp.com/support/tapetools/
fw avaliable ->
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software1/co552/co-3162-1/
did you also check that the drives might not need recalibration (with a new piece of media) by checking in LTT running device analysis and checking the result tab ??
and the media -> how old is it ??
info drv etc ->

Re: Backup Problem with SCO Unix
suggentions, it doesn't seem like a hardware
problem. Unfortunately I don't have the authority to make any software modifications on
these systems. If it is a software thing, there
are other group of people that will handle it.
I am authorized only for hardware problems. So,
I would like your opinion if you think that it's a hardware or a software problem. Thank you for your time.
