benifit of SSD Smart Path option
Hi
We have bought a ProLiant DL380 Gen10 and have installed Windows Server 2016 on it. This server has a HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR controller. I have defined 3 Array in RAID 1. Array A consist of 3 HPE HDD SAS 1.2TB (1 spare) and 2 others consist of 5 Samsung SSD 250GB (1 shared spare). the controller driver is latest , and the firmware is the version prior to last.
The question is:
I am doing some performance benchmark on raid arrays I noticed there is no difference in speed when disabling or enabling SSD Smart Path in "Smart Storage Administrator" application in the following path:
HP Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 in Embedded Sot > Configure > Logical Devices > Disable SSD Smart Path
Although, I read the application message when enabling this option which says:
SSD Smart Path will become fully functional only with support from the Smart Array controller driver. . . .
I want to ask: Is it normal?
I can enable controller cache only when SSD Smart Path is disabled, which is not possible when is enabled, so enabling this option even has disadvantage.
this is my report:

Re: benifit of SSD Smart Path option
Greetings
It will help in certain types of IOs. Details mentioned on the below web-link.
So you can test if using the controller cache will provide better performance or the SmartPath.

"SSD Smart Path will become fully functional only with support from the Smart Array controller driver"
Ensure the controller driver (smartpqi in this case) is up to date if using SmartPath.
When you create an array using SSD drives, smart path is enabled by default and the controller cache configuration is not available.
Thanks,
TAM
