BL Blades enhanced enclosure
I think I've figured it out but I thought I would ask the experts.
We have just received 2x BL25P's for eval. I notices that they have 4 NICS (plus the iLO). But I can only physically plug in 3 on our (older version) backplanes.
Am I to assume that the 4th NIC is only available if we (buy) use the enhanced backplane? I'm assuming that all servers then share the same iLO NIC in the new managment module leaving 4 NICS / server (or 16 if you have BL40/45s)
Cheers

Re: BL Blades enhanced enclosure
16 if you have 45, but if you have 40 - you have 20 + for each ILO in older an din newer one for all ILO.

Re: BL Blades enhanced enclosure
You are quite correct in you deduction. Under the original Enclosure, you would lose NIC2 for the iLo. In the enhanced Enclosure, since all the iLos are ported thru the management module, NIC2 is available for use.

Re: BL Blades enhanced enclosure
Also, I thought you lost "NIC4" on the old enclosure? NIC's numbered...
4 3 B B B B B B B B 1 2
numbers being the "NIC" (not numbered how you see in Windows though) and B being a blade slot. (View from the back)
The short story is... you gain the NIC back if you upgrade to the enhanced backplane.
