Blue screen install Power Management

Have a Proliant ML330e with a Compaq T2400h UPS. After installing Windows 2000 server with relevant service packs, we then install Compaq Power Management software. This causes Blue Screen error on reboot and server requires reinstall. Any ideas why this is occurring?
