Boot Partition Problems with SmartStart
We are using SmartStart 4.90 software to install NT 4.0. The server has a SCSI-2 controller on Slot 1 (in addition to the built in IDE) with two 8 GB HDDs and also a Compaq 431 Array Controller with three 18 GB HDDs.
SmartStart will install to the array disks invariably. We want to boot NT from the first SCSI-2 drive.
Have tried changing BIOS boot order, using SmartStart manual mode and assisted mode.
Problem still happens with SmartStart. EISA utilities and NT4 boot are loaded to the array.

Re: Boot Partition Problems with SmartStart
Has the BOOS been verified as being up to date? The latest BOOS date is 3/13/01 and the softpaq number is SP17151.exe. Also, the array controller should be installed in one of the primary PIC slots(4,5 and 6). If problem still exists, try removing the array controller and install the SO on the 18.2GB HAD's attached to the embedded controller. Verify that you are able to boot into the SO. If you are, add the array controller to the server and configure the array. Does it work correctly?
