Booting off removing HDD ? missing operating system

Hi there,

We are trying to work on a machine offline. We have a DL380 with 2x Ultra 3 SCSI drives configured up as RAID 1. We have removed what we believe to be the Master HDD and now want to insert this drive into another DL380, so we can do work on this drive offline.

When we do this, the machine refuses to boot off this drive. Saying 'missing operating system'.

Is there any way to get the boot partition onto this drive, without reformatting the drive, so we can work on to data on it ?

Cheers,
Roy.

Re: Booting off removing HDD ? missing operating system

Although this is not a supported option at Compaq have you tried just running the SCU: f10/f9 to let the new drive known by the system. You cannot put the system partition on it after the OS is install but just running the SCU utility give the save result. Hope this help.
