Booting to Secondary Disk
I have a Compaq Smart 2/P Array controller installed with 4 internal drives and 1 external drive. I have two logical drives configured on both the internal and external drives, for a total of 4 logical drives connected to the Smart 2/P. I have intalled Solaris 7 on two of the logical drives. Once on the internal array and once on the external drive. My problem is this: If the internal drive array fails, how can I get my server to boot up using the external drive??

Re: Booting to Secondary Disk
This configuration will not work since you need to boot on the Array A. If you were to put all 4 drives part of this array A and then create 4 logical partitions with it, you would still not be able to boot from the external drives since all 4 will be part of one array, and if a failiure occurs all drives will be disabled. The only way to have this kind of redundancy would be to add another array controller for the external drive.
