Breaking Arrays
I am wondering there is a way to change the disk configuration from Raid 5 to Disk Mirroring. I have in one server 3 disks configured as a RAID 5. I would like to take one of the disks out to use elsewhere. I also have, in another server, 4 disk, that are mirrored. I would also like to take 2 disks out of here and simply have 2 disks mirrored. Is this possible. I have tried pulling a disk out of each of them, but the server just wants another disk put in. I cannot seem to find an option to break the mirror or change configuration.

Re: Breaking Arrays
Yes Raid migration can be done but not the way you wish to do it. If you migrate your RAID 5 to a RAID 1 you will need 4 Hard drives. The reason for this is that if you have 3 X 9GB HDD in a RAID 5, your logical drive is above 18GB. IF you migrate that to a Raid 1 you will not have enough space to migrate. The problem you will have is that there will not be enough logical drive space to migrate it over to a RAID 1.
I hope this helps.
