Broken key in front bezel
My server, Proliant ML350 is having a defect disk. So in my attemt to replace it, I broke the key in the keyhole and no chance of getting it out. So can I force the front bezel up, or are there some kind of security who will shut the server down ? I would really really prefer not to shut down the sever if possible.

Re: Broken key in front bezel
Hi,
Kindly mention the server Generation.
Search for the server Maintenance Guide at HP and see if you can remove the front Bezel from inside the chassis.
Here is a doc reference on removing the bezel.

Thank You!

Re: Broken key in front bezel
From what I recall on all the ML systems, when the front bezel is locked, you can't remove the side panel to access the chassis. I'm not aware of any of the ML systems having some type of interlock that will kill server power if you force open the bezel.
Some of the early Compaq servers had an interlock and the server wouldn't get power unless you installed one of the little white 'dogbone' tools if you removed the chassis cover.

Re: Broken key in front bezel
The ML350 G8,G9 doesn't shut down the server if you open the front bezel or if you remove it! about your problem...
you should receive 2 keys attached on the back of the server! try to get out the broken key (it should be easy to do it with the right tools) and open it with the second one!
I can offer assistance regarding: DL380 G8, ML350 G8,9 DL560 G8 and most of the DL G9
